Spaghetti Sauce

Spaghetti Sauce

1/2 lb. Italian Sausage - Lite or turkey works equally well (Hillshire farm type)
You can chop up the sausage well or leave in larger chunks.
1 onion, chopped
1 Green pepper, chopped
2-3 cloves of garlic, minced or finely chopped
1-8 oz can tomato sauce
1 C. Water
1 can chopped or diced tomatoes (Italian seasoned tomatoes are great)
Dried Basil and oregano or dried Italian seasoning
1 Schillings Spaghetti Seasoning or use your favorite
1 8 oz can mushrooms

Saute onion and peppers in 1 T. of oil for 2-3 mins. Add garlic, sausage, dried spices and just enough water to saute/simmer until peppers are done. Add tomatoes, seasoning and mushroom. Add water as needed. Simmer for 30 min. or more. This is also good with a 1/2 lb. of cooked ground beef or turkey added with the tomato and seasoning. May need to add more tomatoes with beef.
